Geelong Gem & Mineral Club Inc

Geelong Gem & Mineral Club Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation for local Gemstone & Mineral enthusiasts.

The Geelong Gem and Mineral Club Inc was founded in 1967 by a group of local Gemstone and Mineral enthusiasts, and occupies a purpose-built facility, located in Hamlyn Heights, and welcomes new members at all times.

The club is run by members, for members, and offers a facility where members can practise their hobby, amongst a community of people with similar interests, and foster learning and sharing of knowledge, in a relaxed and friendly environment, with low costs.

The Clubrooms include:

•  Meeting Area and Kitchen facilities

• Faceting Room

• Cabochon Cutting workroom

• Silversmithing rooms with individual work stations

• Rock Slabbing and sawing room

• Rock and Mineral Displays

• Storage areas

• Library for borrowing and reference

The Clubs regular activities include:

• Monthly Meetings, including Raffles

• Weekly Workshop sessions (days and evenings)

• Field Trips (several per year)

•  Annual Show

• Newsletter

• Sale of raw materials (rock and slabs)

The club offers instruction in member run courses in the following areas. Completing the courses allows you to utilize the workshop facilities during our workshop open hours-

•  Cabochon Cutting and polishing

• Faceting of precious Gemstones

• Silverwork Jewellery making

• Silver casting

• Glass Fusion

• Enamelling

So, if you have an interest in the areas of Gemstone collecting, Lapidary (cutting and polishing stones), Minerals, Fossicking, and Jewellery making, you are most welcome to join our club, and belong to a community of people with a common interest.

Membership is open to all ages, although juniors need to be old enough to have sufficient height to safely use machinery, and must have adult accompaniment.
